Hey Sportfans…  Welcome to the weekly drumming here at Ballard’s Resort.

For those in the know, yes, it’s been quite a start to our winter ice fishing season.  We’ve been on the main lake working the west end of Pine since the get go.  And the bite has been good.

Assuming there’s a heavy forage base on the south shore it appears as though we can hold our own in 24 to 27 feet of water.  The mix continues to be dominated by saugers with the occasional walleye thrown into the action.  More times than not this will be your better sized fish.

After a cold blast over the weekend there was some skepticism on whether or not we could maintain the consistent action.  And quite honestly, it did dip a bit on Saturday, but we seemed to rebound well on Sunday.  A big switch in the barometer can more times than not leave you on the short end of the jigstick.

What’s next?  From the sounds of it, just got off the phone with Nick, the guides are putting their backs into it today.  Move-move-move…  Keep bumping the shacks and fishing clean ice.

And speaking of ice…  We are continuing to use the lightweight little jeeps and enclosed trailers to transport everyone to the fish houses.  We are not using Bombardiers yet.

In the near future we are not predicting any big moves as far as changing overall fishing locations in the coming days.  As long as the fish hang tight to the south shore…  So will we…

Lots more action to come!  Join the fun!  Set the hook!
