Good fishing and good weather has been the theme for the last week or so here at Ballard’s Resort, with some warmer weather here in the last couple days. Fishing has been consistently good the last few weeks with high numbers of upper slots being caught and many trophies being hauled up. The keeper fish have been quality as well with plenty of 17 and 18 in. fish being put in the cooler.
The go to method to pulling up these fish has been, you guessed it, drifting spinners. Hammered gold and chartreuse spinners with a crawler or shiner as bait seem to be the most productive combination. Drifting in 26′ – 32′ out in the mud flats seems to be the ticket according to the guides.
