Week 1

6.27.17

Welcome sportsfans to the Ballard’s Resort fishing report with the latest and greatest here on Lake of the Woods! It’s been a tough couple of weeks on the water with average wind spends of 20mph! We’ve even had winds knock out power with 70 mph gusts which makes it a rough ride wherever you go. Our guides are troopers though and continue to put clients on fish whether it’s been up North, out west, or staying right close to home.

Still working the jig bite with gold and pink being the go to colors. The bite seems to be the most consistent in about 30 feet of water in the mud. Boats have been catching a good mix of keeper fish, lunch fish, and the occasional trophy thrown in as well.

With the bug hatch just starting we imagine that guides will begin the transition from jig fishing to drifting spinners. It’s been a great June here at Ballard’s and we’re looking forward to an even better July. If you’re in the area for the 4th, check out all there is to do in town! http://baudettelakeofthewoodschamber.com/wp-content/uploads/poster2017.jpg

If you are looking to get out on the water next week, we do have some open spots so give us a call!

Set the hook!
