Hey Sports Fans!

Our open water charter fishing 2019 season on Lake of The Woods has come to an end, we had an AWESOME season with LOADS of personal bests caught by our guests and even our guides!

We at Ballard’s Resort thank everyone that fished with us and stayed with us at Lake of The Woods this season, it was a memorable season and we are excited to see you again next year!

Like I’ve said in the past; just because we have pulled our boats doesn’t mean the fishing is over. We still have guest staying with us going out in their own boats and catching NICE trophy walleyes!

Fishing has been different this fall due to the Rainy River being very high water, which also means high current. We are finding fish still up in the shallows(5-10 feet) and in the bends of the river where the current isn’t as strong, whether you’re using live or frozen shiners the walleyes don’t seem to mind. But make sure to pack a good selection of different weights of jigs!

Out on Lake of the Woods, fishing has been fantastic as well! A lot of good keeper/eater fish and the occasional hog walleye, still fishing 7-15 feet of water!

We had a great season at Ballard’s, and we are excited to do it again next year, for those who can’t wait for open water again plan a trip to come up ice fishing on Lake of the Woods with us!

I’ll keep you guys updated with ice and fishing conditions this winter on beautiful Lake of the Woods!
