WEEK – TWO (in the rearview mirror).  Hello sportsfans!  The latest and greatest?  Sometimes ice fishing can be like sittin’ in a bar, with an empty glass.

Time to get on track.  That’s what we’re hoping for!  Literally and figuratively!  December will soon be gone, and it’s been a month of struggles.  Anyone up here (Lake of the Woods) telling it differently hasn’t been on the big lake.

Too much snow too early.  That’s been the line and it’s hamstringed us since the get go.  Plain and simple we (our guides) have been hitched to a tough sled and it’s been tough to move (let alone get on fish).

THE GOOD NEWS!  With the cold blast we are starting to gain some ice.  Enough so that our Bombardiers are coming out of the shop and hitting on all cylinders.  When conditions allow, getting the fish houses moved and getting further offshore is our hope.

Our view from the Ballard’s guests, per the office, “fishing has been challenging, small fish or nothing, enough for some fresh filets at the end of the day”.

Again, time to get on track.  The fish seem to be confused.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! Cheers to setting the hook in 2023!
