That’s a Wrap!

Well that’s it,  the end of our 2020 open water season!

We had a GREAT season, and we could not be more thankful of the guests, and employees that made it a wonderful season.

This year was a standard year of fishing in the sense of patterns and techniques used depending on the temperature and time of summer. The fishing was HOT this summer on Lake Of The Woods with a lot of trophy fish caught and even more shore lunches and fish dinners!

The river is filled with plenty of anglers still out on the hunt for the elusive Rainy River Walleye. But we haven’t had the best reports coming through the office!

Give us a call and book a room for a fall trip on Lake of the Woods, or plan your ice fishing vacation with us!

The Shiners Are Running!

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1602618638100{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]Hey Sportfans!

The Shiners have made their well-known appearance by running up the Rainy River once again. The locals that have been around a lot longer than I, said it was one of the best runs they have seen in years, which is great news! Now we wait for the Rainy River to become packed with Walleye and Sauger as they are starting to stage!

Out on Lake of the Woods our guides are finding fish stacked off rock points in 20-24 feet of water, along with finding bigger numbers of smaller fish right outside the gap in 16-22 feet. The current has been subtle this year and most are able to get by with a 3/8th jig tipped with a shiner but don’t be afraid to go bigger if you aren’t able to place your bait right where you want it (or smaller if you can manage!)

In the Rainy River/Four Mile bay fishing has been sporadic. In the Bay anglers have been able to pick away at limits around 14 feet, in the Rainy River the fish have been all over the board from 10-26 feet. In the bay/river the weight of choice is 3/8th jigs, but 7/16th and up are a great weight to have in the arsenal.

We are starting to wind down for the season but still have some great openings for lodging, and maybe even a spot or two for charter fishing, give us a call and find out!
