And we’re off…

Hello sportsfans! Summer is upon us and we can feel it. The past week weather has cooperated and provided us with excellent fishing conditions.

Our charter boats have been having luck heading north to Knight and Bridges. Fishing around the edges in 18’ to 33 feet of water has provided us with copious amounts eater sized walleye and saugers. Many limits have been taken from up there in the recent week. Our boats make the journey even further north to Garden Island for an appetizing shore lunch of walleye, potatoes, baked beans and cookies.

The lure of choice is…. You guessed it a 3/8th ounce jig! Colors vary depending on water clarity but we have had great luck with pink, orange, and our personal favorite… METALLIC GOLD! The water temperature jumped 10 degrees from last week up to 58 degrees.

The weather is looking up and fishing is starting to be where we want it. Lodging and fishing packages still available… Now is the time to come up and…SET THE HOOK

The Great Minnesota Get-Together…

contact us l Ballard's Resort Lake of the Woods

Hey Sportsfans!  Whammy! The Great Minnesota Get together…affectionately known as “the opener” has come and gone and we were in full swing on Friday night with a group of passionate fishermen ready to test the waters.

A full fleet of guide boats departed Saturday morning and scattered about the river. Despite the cold, windy start the Raniy River provided us with some nice sized eaters…anchor up and JIG JIG JIG!  Our boats were spread from Wilson’s Creek all the way to Four Mile Bay and we saw the best action in the afternoon.

3/8 to 3/4 oz. jigs have been the weight of choice of the guides… and of course, gold seems to be the color they all grabbed for.  The water temperature is sitting around 48 degrees.

The weather is turning around and we are expecting a great week ahead…

Lodging & Fishing packages still available…Now’s the time to come up and…

SET THE HOOK!!

It’s Spring time!

3/21/2016
Hello Sportsfans…
Yes!  Spring is officially here!
This week we move forward at the resort with projects on boats, docks, cabins and more.  The ice fishing season is now a splendid memory.  So many good times!
And yes…  The “river-fishing”…  It has commenced in all it’s glory…  So we’ve got that going…
Fishing reports early on (last week) were of trophy size walleye and solid numbers for action.  Remember, you have until April 15 to splash your boat.
As of today, the river is open in front of the resort, and possibly the nearby access will be available for use by the weekend.  We’ll have to see how that plays out.
For the time being…  Ramps from Timber Mill Park in Baudette, and on up to Birchdale are in use.
Join the fun.  It’s spring.  Get out and about.  Wet a line.
Set the hook!

Get the boats ready!

contact us l Ballard's Resort Lake of the Woods

Sunday March 13.

As of today the fish houses for Ballard’s Resort have been removed from the lake.  The ice fishing season, for us, has concluded.

With well above average temps the ice conditions on the lake have deteriorated quite quickly.  Time to get off.

Best advice?  Get your boat ready…

The Rainy River is open at Birchdale and west (part way) toward Frontier.  This was the morning report.

It also sounds like there are some walleyes in the river, and that the few boat anglers that are currently here, are having success.

Starting today…  Our lodge and cabins and bar will remain open for the balance of the regular walleye fishing season.  That’s until April 15.

Off-season cabin rates go into effect immediately: $45.00 per night, per person, tax included.

The bar will be open from 4p to close daily.  The restaurant will be open from 4p to close (Thursday’s thru Sunday’s).

Let’s get the boats going!  And set the hook!

Special thanks to those that finished out the ice fishing season with us this past weekend.  Greatly appreciated.
