December 13th Ice Report

Hey Sportsfans!

Another quick ice update…

The guides have been on the ice, checking the conditions daily. They continue to find varying thicknesses of ice. In good spots, there are 7-9″ of ice. There are still large sections of open water and spots where only 3″ of ice were found.

For groups that have reservations with us before Christmas, please be patient. We will continue to monitor the ice conditions, and will be in contact with you as soon as we have an update regarding your reservation. In the meantime, please give our office a call if you have any questions! 218.634.1849

December 4th Ice Report

12/4/23

We’ll keep this short and sweet… A few of our guides went out on the bay today and measured anywhere from 3-7”… and there are still open spots on the lake.

As we know more information, we will keep you posted.

Be smart and stay safe.

ICE UPDATE – END OF NOV.

Short of ice fishing enthusiasts and ski slope downhillers…  There aren’t too many folks in the world who eagerly anticipate cold weather (start of winter).  Maybe humans acting like polar bears with their plunging?  Anyway…

Hello sports fans.  Looks like the next 8-days are calling for highs in the 30’s and lows in the 20’s here on Lake of the Woods.  To date (NOV 29) only skim ice appears on parts of the Rainy River and shallow bay areas of the lake.  If you’ve seen or heard of a cold snap, please send it our way.

In the meanwhile, we have Vikings FB (recent loss to the Bears) to drone about.  Is there a bear theme here in our world (Polar / Chicago)?  And secretly, in exchange for a future Viking victory, all we really want is some early ice and the opportunity to set the hook on a walleye!

It will happen sooner or later.  It always does.  And then the great ice fishing festivus on this gi-hu-gic ice cube we call Lake of the Woods will begin.

2023 Summer Season

Hey Sportsfans!

The 2023 Summer Season has come to an end. It was a great season, thanks to our incredible guests.

We had unbelievable weather to finish off the season. (It’s not very often that LOW sees October weekends in the 60s.) We ended the season in the midst of a strong shiner run. Walleyes are starting to follow the shiners from the lake into the gap. As temperatures get colder, fishing should only get hotter.

The charter boats are being pulled and put into storage. Soon there will be ice on the lake and we will be dragging out the ice houses. Until then…

1) Give us a call to book your winter reservation. #218.634.1849

2) Our bar and restaurant will be closed. (We hope to see you back this winter!)
