Greetings Sportsfans and welcome to the weekly slam here on Lake of the Woods. It’s October… Wandering walleyes… River bite… Here’s the latest…

Numbers numbers numbers: our guide boats this past week, for the most part, have been anchored up outside the Light House Gap in anywhere from 22’-30’ of water. The key is to have patience and you will see plenty of nice take home fish. We have also heard of some good reports from personal boats over West…Zippel Bay has been productive for some as well. As expected this time of the year we have continued to tip our jig with a frozen shiner and JIG. Best colors, of course, gold, orange & chartreuse.

Rainy River bite?  Lots of boats in the river this weekend. The report…nothing crazy, catching some here and there, but still, your best bet is to travel North towards the lake.

The million dollar question…have the Emerald Shiners been running. As of last night, no, we haven’t seen the shiners running in the river…that means it’s still bound to happen and YOU could be here when it does. Temperatures have been dropping down into the 30’s at night, which traditionally, should get them going. We wish we could tell you when, but all we can do is continue checking the light.

We’ll keep you posted. Set the hook!
