Week 1

Welcome to another Ballard’s Resort fishing report here on Minnesota’s Lake of the Woods where the fall bite has officially arrived! Mother Nature hasn’t been easy to work with the last couple of weeks, but even when the guides can’t get to the main lake, they have been putting away fish on the Rainy River. Fisherman have been hooking into a variety of fish on the Rainy including some good sturgeon and plenty of keeper walleye for supper.

When the weather permits, the guides have been fishing just outside Lighthouse Gap and have been anchoring up and jigging in about 29’ to 30’ of water. Orange and gold jigs seem to be the go to color to pick up the most fish but they’ve also been working with pink and gold, and chartreuse and gold as well, all tipped with frozen shiners.

The bite is only going to continue to improve as we move further into fall! We still have some availability this October so be sure to get your fall fishing trip booked before we run out of space!

Set the Hook!
