It’s about that time, Sportsfans. Our winter season is winding down here at Ballard’s Resort. Our last day taking fisherman out on the lake will be Tuesday, March 19th. Warmer temps are coming to Lake of the Woods next week and ice conditions on the lake are sure to deteriorate.

The guides just recently moved our houses closer to home. About two miles past Lighthouse Gap in 28′-30′ of water. Fishing has slowed down a bit after the move, with groups picking away at some eater fish. It was tough to leave good fishing grounds, but anticipating tougher ice conditions, it was definitely the right move.

The crew here at Ballard’s is eagerly awaiting open water, as I’m sure many of you are as well. If you are looking to scratch that open water itch, catch and release walleye season in the Rainy River and Four Mile Bay runs through April 14 or try to hook up with a dino Lake Sturgeon! We will have cabins available through the offseason!

Thanks for the great winter season, now it’s time to get ready for summer!

Set the hook!
