Hello Sportsfans!

Week-1 at Ballard’s Resort (winter ice fishing) and we are super excited to kick off the season.  December is always one of those “anxiously awaited” months where you hope for early ice, and this year we got it.

Planes…  Trains…  And automobiles…  Actually right now it’s the super small tracker (alien vehicles) that we’re using, along with the enclosed / heated utility trailers, to transport everyone to the lake.  Too early yet for the Bombardiers.  Ice conditions in the area we are fishing vary from 12″ to 14″.

Right now, most of the fish houses are parked in 22-24ft of water on the north side of the island (Pine) toward the west end.  Water clarity is not perfect per the NW blow pre-freeze-up, but we do have folks catching enough walleyes to put together a nice platter of fish.  BONUS!  (love those walleye tacos)

We have not seen any TROPHY size fish to date…  It could be a matter of depth, location, forage base, any numerous reasons come into play.  Bottom line, we need some more cold weather, which is coming soon, and this should allow us to be more mobile in our pursuits.  No one likes GETTIN EM more than we do.

That’s it for now.  It’s been slow to start per the bite.  Only gonna get better.  Set the hook!
