Hello sportfans.  Tis the blessed season.  THE ICE FISHING SEASON!

This stretch of Christmas to New Year’s is one of, if not the most, happening times of the winter.  Lots of hustle and bustle on the ice with a super number of families and friends here to visit.

Ice conditions continue to improve on the south shore as mega-cold-temps hold us in contempt.  We started using the Bombardiers a couple days ago, as ice thickness has now reached 17+ inches in the area we are fishing.

The catch is the catch is the catch.  Yes, we are having success.  Still hanging on the south shore close to the island (Pine).  We are seeing lots of eating size fish with the occasional slot.  No trophy size bangers to report this week.

Happy holidays everyone!  Super jacked for 2022 and more adventures on LOW.

Brrrrrrrrrrrrr… That’s what we like to hear!

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1640108919891{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]Hello sportsfans.  Welcome to the latest and greatest here on LOW.

Ice fishing…  Fresh wild walleyes…  Tons of laughs…  It’s all happening right now!

The month of December generally starts with a slow roll as we gradually crank up the winter season.  Most of our fishing activity is taking place within eyesight of Pine Island.  Very typical for this timeframe.

Daily catches have been producing mixed bags.  We are hearing about fish counts going NORTH OF 100 (that’s the top end), and others saying enough fish to keep us busy and provide a fresh meal.  Overall, this has been a consistent start and that’s really what the guides are driven by.  Consistency across the board.

What’s next?  As the weather continues to grind its teeth into this cold blast, we will be allowed more leniency to roam.  Adding ice thickness is super important if you want to keep pushing the depths of Big Traverse Bay.

Big time holiday coming!  Jolly Saint Nick…  All the gang…

Set the hook.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”4026″ img_size=”medium” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Green Flag Winter Season 2021-22

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1639065651493{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]Hello sportfans!

The latest…  Just spoke with Dunner…  Our ice fishing houses are on the way to the lake.  Four-Mile Bay and the near-shore areas of Pine Island in which we usually set up camp with the shacks are navigable.  We are finding 8-10 inches of ice in the specific locations in which we are traveling.

Sounds like there are some rough patches on the lake (prevailing west / nw winds during freeze up.  Seen better and seen worse.  But again, good to go for us on the fishing starting TOMORROW (Friday DEC 10).

Early reports?  Jimmy was out yesterday doing some scouting.  Officially he iced about 30-walleyes before growing tired and calling it a day.  Nice hustle Jimmy.

The truth will be in the…  Our first few days on the lake are always spent bouncing around testing different depths and working various locations.  A bit tougher with an 8-inch hole versus a 27-foot Sportcraft with six anglers on board.  Regardless, our guides will get it done.

Where to start?  A little fishy told me 18-20ft.  Set the veritable hook![/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”4015″ img_size=”medium” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
