Fall is Here!

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1632334129340{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]Hey Sportsfans!

Fall is here and we are finding impressive numbers of fish out front in 26-30ft.

Bite is heavily dominated by saugers.

Most are very nice eating size. Which should bode well for winter fishing. And these saugers should be out front until freeze up.

Conversely, for time, the reef bite up north today has been heavily weighted with SLOT FISH.

Harder to find something for the cooler up north. At least today.

Anchored off the edges of the reefs, not fast action, but again nice slot fish when you do get a bite.

Overall, the south shore seems
To be the best bet for action right now.

The Gales of August?

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1629488883625{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]Hey Sportsfans!

Out front Gap has been an every other day gig. One day they’re there, and the next they’re not. 27-29ft best. Most slots coming from this area when they’re there.

Strong south wind…. Go to Graceton and ZIPPLE.   Fish shallow. 17-21 feet. Gotta have WIND for them to go. Tons of little guys. Some boxers and the occasional slot.

Reef action showing signs of life after
About a three-week sabbatical. Not great numbers…. But if you fish enough reefs, you can find enough for a fresh walleye dinner.

Little traverse mud bite continues to reload. Probably the best overall action we are seeing on a day to day.

Wrapping Up July

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1627504363110{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]Hey Sportsfans!

This past week we’ve seen both highs and lows in the action on Big Traverse and Little Traverse alike.

Most notable…. The “south shore” bite is seemingly good for not only numbers of fish but also size.

Early in the week strong south winds lit up the Pine Island bite. Lots of fish were on the feed and the 18-24ft depths were quite productive.

Once the winds subsided…. The fish have moved out further offshore…. And the reports of limits being caught are coming from 27-28ft.

The lows of the week have been the reef bite. After the south wind came the BIG NW blow. This did two things.

First…. It basically blew all the fish off the Knight and Bridges reefs. We’ve looked near and far and they seem to be gone at the present time.

Will they return?  Tough call. Seen it go either way this time of year.

Second….  The big winds moved a ton of walleyes into Little Traverse. Fairly predictable when you get a blow. Arguably the harder it cranks up (wind) the more they bite.

These fish are not relating to structure per say. It’s more “trough fishing”. And or the pockets in the north where you find deeper water.

Overall, a solid week. We can only take the bite that the lake gives us each day…. And that’s been pretty darn good.
